![]() Three years later, Carr went to work for the Broward Community Blood Center doing donor recruitment and public relations until leaving in 1982. She and Vince, who managed the Cove Marina in Deerfield Beach, got married and bought a house in Lighthouse Point. Your dreams are important and if those dreams help you live out your purpose, keep dreaming bigger and doing bigger. After graduating from Kent State in 1973, Carr returned to South Florida and got a job as the publication coordinator and later the public relations director for the North Broward Hospital District. Once you do, you will realize why did you wait so long. The scariest thing is just getting started. If you always wanted to play an instrument, get Skype lessons and start! If you’ve always wanted to get fit, start doing body weight exercises and cooking new, healthy meals at home. We are being forced to make time for what is important. The time we are experiencing now is a time of forced isolation. ![]() To think that this finally came to fruition because a young child this morning realized it was the first sunny day in quite a while and wrote those words that inspired a 39-year old to start living her dream. Day 1 of a scary, comfort-zone stretching and exciting day of doing what I’ve always struggled to do- Get Started! I have always loved to help others and this is Day 1. I’m the person at a party that overhears you mentioning your sister-in-law is looking for a job and was laid off and immediately starts thinking of the people and clients I work with and how I can make an introduction. My purpose is to inspire, my purpose is to share. I suppose it wasn’t until around 2012 that I truly recognized my purpose. I thought, wow, I have the ability to take the relationships and people I know best, that inspire me every day and share it with the world. Share it with others that crave hearing some good and struggle finding one small, positive thing in their day. Writing a blog, a book, sharing the knowledge, inspiration and success of what I tend to naturally see in the good, the bad and the ugly. ![]() Inspired to do what I’ve been dreaming of doing for years. Written in chalk by the hands of a young child, no doubt, I was inspired. ![]() “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream”. and a quote that really resonated with me, made me stop and take a photo. This morning after about 4 days of rain and overcast weather, I found the sidewalk covered drawings that put a smile on my face…. In trying to find new motivation, I’ve used this time to focus on routine and habits! One of those habits was to simply walk my little Yorkie, Ollie every morning. Get off our phones and be present with the people we are with. I hope we remain “in the moment” more than ever. I hope we look for ways to help others that suffer regularly, whether from addiction, mental illness, poverty, etc. I hope we start to check up on those we love that live alone or are more isolated and do it regularly. Now thinking back on this pandemic we all realized how important our friendships and family members are. More time with our friends and family without or cell phones on, activities out with those we love? My hope is that we all start living with more intention. Will we still go for walks with our loved ones? Will we be more involved in our kids’ education? Will we continue to make dinner at home at the table with family? What will life look like in the coming months? I do, however, wonder, what will be our new normal? This helped calm others, including myself. I’ve spent the last several weeks finding ways to show leadership and help influence others in the way they think, helping them stay positive and look at the positive outlook on what is currently going on. It’s now Day 17 of what we are calling this “new normal”.Ī movement of social distancing and self-isolation, since the news of COVID became very serious, to a level I don’t think many of us imagined. That’s what I wish happened when I woke up this morning. The world won't open it’s doors until at least April 30th.
